Choppa Nutta You're collecting some large models Augie :)
this link is not quite the same version but an interesting build never the less,
might be good reference for the cockpit and wheel bays etc :)
1. September 2016, 23:39
Augie Thanks Choppa, yeah collecting some biggies but I am sure I can find places for them once built.
2. September 2016, 11:26
Choppa Nutta you could paint your ceiling like an airfield apron and stick you models up there so that when you're sitting in your chair and look up you can pretend your half way through a loop as you look "down" onto the airfield below :D

I tried looking up the span of a U-2R but couldn't find anything except 103 feet for the normal U-2 but I'll take a guess :D
130 feet ? :)
which means a span of 32.5 inches, that's a big model if my guesses are right..

I wonder how close my guess is ? :)
2. September 2016, 12:08
Augie well that is about spot on for any of the newer U-2's (R onwards) so yeah its big.

The idea of putting them on the ceiling in that way is actually quite a novel one and worth considering
2. September 2016, 12:41
Choppa Nutta would be a great project, never seen it done before :)
you could do a few in flight, maybe one coming into land with its flaps out etc.
dress up the lamp shade as a fluffy cotton wool cloud, maybe even add some runway lights :D
if you could put lights in all the aircraft too the whole thing would make a great night light for the evening.. How about some motorised helis for ceiling fans ? :D

Ok perhaps I'm getting carried away but there is no upper "ceiling" on what you could do although I would think a working train set on the ceiling might be a bit too much of a challenge haha :D
hanging them from the ceiling usually means seeing only the underneath but at least with this idea you have a context to show them the right way up and all that jazz. :)
