Choppa Nutta haha, is that bad of a fit ?
ah well, the practice will do me good ! :D
07. August 2016 at 04:46:44
Michael Hickey Well after viewing Cliffy's Cat I think I need a piece of humble pie. :# He done a nice job.
07. August 2016 at 05:03:30
Choppa Nutta Reading through the review it does have some shortcomings but for the price and the addition of some cheap PE for the cockpit, also it was a new tool in 2002 so not that old at all really and I've got a rivet wheel ! :D

Feeling tempted actually :D
07. August 2016 at 05:23:31
H. Wi Still nobody able to tell if the new Tamiya cat can be built overswept or not?
10. August 2016 at 22:52:56
Markus Antonius what does overswept mean?
11. May at 08:18:21
Patrick Hagelstein Markus, overswept means that the wings are completely folded for storage or moving around on a flight deck. Overswept means that the wings hang marginally over the stabilizers, so no movibg of those is possible.
11. May at 10:00:14
Markus Antonius ahh i see! never recognised this in photographs of tomcats in carrier-bays... thanks patrick!
11. May at 11:53:44
Mathijs Beenhakker Markus The F-14's wing sweep can be varied between 20° and 68° in flight and for storage on deck or hangar they had the oversweep of 75 degrees

Is there any chance to build it with gears up without any problems?
11. May at 08:17:31 Share
Patrick Hagelstein Shouldn't be any problem. The doors are all separate and knowing Tamiya in exactly the same size as their corresponding openings.
11. May at 10:01:45
Markus Antonius ok, but it is not intended in the instructions? thanks anyway :)

Holger Kranich Viel Spaß mit dem genialen Teil! Achte mal auf das zusammensetzten der Rumpfoberschale (klingt ja wie beim Schlachter ;)). Da wirst Du wahrscheinlich etwas schnitzen müssen.
19. April 2017 at 13:42:03
Sören Reifert Danke für den Tipp. :)
Es wird aber vermutlich noch bisschen dauern, bis dieser große Vogel auf meinem Tisch landet.
Ggf. folgt auch noch bisschen was an Zubehör bzw. Decals.

Is the boat tail fairing correct for the VF-1 plane? It's right for the other two for sure but I thought Enterprise's Tomcats had the early fairing until they went overall gull grey. Also are the early fin stiffeners correct for the Nimitz bird?

Holger Kranich You know, Choppy, when i opened the box of the fine HobbyBoss F-14B i was a little bit shocked about all the possibilitys and open hatches you can realise with the kit. To be honest, it stops me from building it because i´m just a lazy modeler. ;) So this Tamiya offering is just perfefect for me. :D
25. August 2016 at 17:24:26
Holger Kranich And i´m looking forward the AMK kit. Should be easy to build, too!
25. August 2016 at 17:31:17
Germen V i wait also for the AMK, i want a F14D
25. August 2016 at 18:20:44
Choppa Nutta ..."i´m just a lazy modeler. ;)"
haha I admire your candor :D
25. August 2016 at 19:30:54
Holger Kranich The truth is the truth, buddy. B**bs are b**bs and a Tamiya kit is a Tamiya kit... So the circle is closing... ;)
25. August 2016 at 19:33:29
25. August 2016 at 19:43:11
Germen V @Holly, don't you have sometimes the craving to go, and i will not say an extra mile, but an extra 500 miles on a kit.
26. August 2016 at 14:18:15
Holger Kranich It depends on the kit, Germen. Sometimes yes but more often no. As i said im a lazy dude.,)

huenlil Added a new review for:
20. July 2016 at 05:35:58 Share
Patrick Hagelstein First one is out there! And what a joy it is!!! :) Tamiya allready got me hooked! Let's see what AMK is up to. ;)
20. July 2016 at 06:50:17
Germen V IS IT OUT? Apparently not at HLJ or Sprues, not even on Tamiya's own website.
Btw i can't open the MMZ review. Anyone? Huenlil where did you got it? Pics?
20. July 2016 at 17:49:59
Rex I right-clicked and opened it in a new tab. I couldn't find an English button, though. Those pics look like Tamiya has another winner there.
20. July 2016 at 18:39:17
huenlil It is a test shot preview from Korean model website. I can't read Korean either :P
20. July 2016 at 18:52:37
Germen V and you post a 'PREVIEW' from somewhere on a Korean site that you found, and joyfully post it here as a 'REVIEW' of a kit that is not out yet? Strong.

It's nothing personal, but the fuzz around this one kit in this mega-business is starting to annoy me. We have all seen the pictures of the test-sprues, read all the rifraf about the weapons, the prices etc, on all the different modelling forums ,You tube.

Patience boys and girls, it's just a matter of weeks and then you all can get loose on this, what I call, 'The release of the century of another Tomcat-kit'.
Cheers
20. July 2016 at 19:25:52
Rex Germen, what a lot of the sites and posts have missed is the fact that weapons will be included, and that the pre-order price to the US from Japan is only $87 USD with the shipping.

Lots of comments around about this kit being "too expensive", based on the MSRP of the future, and the outdated thought that weapons won't be in the box.

This is according to a Tamiya spokesperson's posts. I'll see this kit at the US Nats.
20. July 2016 at 20:54:51
Germen V I'll have to wait here in my little country till the kit hits the shelves to see it.

But i hope you understand my annoy in the fact that it is just another F-14, and i have nothing against it, in fact i love it.

How many companies are or had offered a F-14, regardless the quality, 8 (Hasegawa, Revell/Monogram, Academy, Italeri, Hobby Boss, Fujimi, Mastercraft and AMK. Just the fuzz around it because it's Tamiya.

Wasn't there any other military aircraft in the world that they could have produced that doesn't exist yet in 1/48.

BTW, if you look in the kit database here, there is already someone who marked it as in his stash.

20. July 2016 at 21:38:01
Rex oh, yeah, I get your point about "just another Tomcat". Just like you, I am waiting for some Never Produced stuff in my scale, as well. I don't see that guy's country on his profile,,,,,,maybe he is over there and got one of the pre-productions?
20. July 2016 at 21:41:12
Patrick Hagelstein Sorry Germen!... I meant a (p)review....
20. July 2016 at 22:45:52
Germen V Rex, maybe yes,. Hagel, explain me because i don't understand what you mean with that.
21. July 2016 at 11:24:08
Patrick Hagelstein As I exclaimed 'First one is out there!' I meant the first review is posted on Scalemates. And it was a joy to see the details and the fine surface details. That's all. :)
