For a first model, that's excellent!

Very promising start. Well done.

Thanks for the likes and encouragements.
Never thought I would enjoy scale modelling so much, but I just found out I do.

Great work! I just finished mine and its interesting to see we both addressed some of the same points - the weird mantlet construction and resulting gaps, the handles on the fuel tanks and ditching the heavy MG from the turret. Are you going to use the base?

Bohrmann
Thanks Neil. I wasn't going to use the base because it looks rather 'Matchbox-like', toyish. However, now that I see what you have made of it I may have to review my opinion.

Haha. Nothing clever on my base. In case you want to know, I added a blob af Miliput to bring the base to a better level around the tracks then covered everything with a mix of PVA, pastels and ground up earth from the garden. Dried plant roots for the bare bushes and ground up dried parsley for the dead leaves. All blended together with some dusty colours airbrushed over everything.

Nice work so far! Like the shadings👍

Looks very good.I love the old Matchbox kits.
When started into modelling again I found the MIG Jimenez F.A.Q's very useful.Mark Rinaldis books are also great but they go deeper into the use of oil paints as weathering products.
So the MIG F.A.Q books are fantastic to go beyond the basics....
It's all about having fun in your hobby ....and with every finished model you will learn something more...👍🤙🤘

Thanks for the likes and feedback guys.
@Markus, the books you mention are great reference works but hard to come by and a bit pricey. I do have some issues of "The weathering magazine" . I also try to educate myself through the many YouTube channels on modelling and find inspiration on scalemates here. Currently I am looking at paint chipping, the sponge technique and manual painting.
What strikes me is that some details, such as paint chips, are only really visible in photos of the model. So this adds an extra challenge to modelling. 😊

That's right, that's right, these books cost money!
But they are very helpful.
I also got myself a good library and that really helped me a lot, after trying for a long time myself.

The publications by vallejo with angel giraldez are also interesting.
A very good introduction to the fantasy miniatures scene.

@Simon
Angel Giraldez...striking style and my first inspiration to do NMM.
@Bohrmann
Just take a long around you on construction vehicles .They are the best references how chipping looks in real life....just take some pictures with your mobile.. 😉

Finished at last!. I had to put the project on hold for a while because I did not have the skills to take the next steps and learned a lot from the mistakes I made. Up to the next model 😊

Very impressive result! The weathering is better than I can do. 😄

Thanks for the positive feedback Gorby. Although it is not at all true it motivates me to take the next step in building models. I am still in my monochrome period so I was thinking of something in 'dunkelgelb' in 1/72 scale.

That's a first model build?! I'm looking forward to seeing your next few builds!

Great work with your first kit! Congrats👍🏻

I can only agree. A lot of different techniques applied with convincing results despite little or no experience. Very fine.

Very good small scale build indeed

Thanks for the encouragement gentlemen or dare I say 'mates'. It is my first model and it would have stopped there I think. It is the quality of work I find here that inspires me to pursue this cool hobby further. I hope to learn a lot more. I am an incredibly slow builder because every step that is routine for you guys is still a challenge for me.

You must possess some superhuman skills, Bohrmann - I wish all my succesive models looked like your first one!

Bohrmann
Thank you for your kind words Robert. I certainly don't have any special skills, far from it. 😉 I did however spent hours and hours watching YouTube videos on model building. Still do by the way. There is a wealth of information available today that helps beginners like myself get started. I also get a lot of inspiration here, on Scalemates.
Over the years I've collected a stash of models but never built them because I just didn't think (knew) I was capable of doing so.
Now I have tried a different approach, changed my mindset, and started with models that are relatively simple and cheap. I try to challenge myself but don't set the bar too high right away either. This way, I hope to build some models from my stash.

For me to have fun is the main goal of this hobby (and that's why I will never take part in any contest...) For this reason I also like to build easy and cheap models (Easy Ones | Album by podkon (1:72))
