RandoPilots are fully painted now. The F-8E pilot is based on Dick Schaffert, who was a pilot on this 1966 cruise. While I don't know of any specific plane he flew, F-8 pilots often flew jets that were assigned to others, so he's flying 149180 on this escort mission. In order to accommodate them, I had to remove the rudder pedals and front of the cockpit tub on the F-8E. It won't really be visible when the cockpit is buttoned up anyway.

RandoI didn't like how the Sundowner helmet turned out so I stripped the paint and airbrushed it this time with tiny wedges of tape, then shaped and touched up everything. Just need to add a black stripe for the visor groove.

Habu1271Just finished it. A delight to build! No major issues...except...this really need metal main gear. Or at least a wire core. That forward caster is so extreme that I had to reinforce it with plastic and brass rods. No other issues.

David HCheers Don, I'm definitely giving that a try. Just got to find some paint 😁👍🏻 which I've just learned from a quick google search is known as "emulsion" here in the UK ! 😁

Got the tires on, front landing gear on. These things look fantastic in place. Again, cant recommend them enough. Ill be using his products more often I think. Also, I got one seat done with the PE belts. Man its tedious. Doing just this convinces me I will NEVER do a freaking ship. LOL

Donald Dickson IIGot some aluminum on. I cant do anything else until I get a paint booth. The new fan nozzle throws a lot more paint than I was expecting. About gagged myself. So one is in my cart at the Zon awaiting payday.

Carlos CisnerosMr D, Nathan, & Guy, thank you one and all for your kind feedback! I must say that I do have a soft spot for these Otaki/Arii kits. Not the best kits of the subjects, but with a little extra effort and TLC, the will shine, and don't cost a crazy amount.

Guillaume BlanchetAlmost done. It was a very enjoyable to kit work with so far. The only downside I have seen is that the glue used on the masks for the wheels & windows is very strong. When was removing it from the wheels, the glue transferred on the part making tacky. I had to clean the wheels & repaint some part of it.
