This is my first Takom build and I've so far only built Tamiya models and it takes some getting used to Takoms a bit different plastic/polymer composition and especially their - in my world - not as good build description...
I've been keen on starting this build for several weeks now but I'd decided to do this when the other models on my table were done. Done as in building that is, not painted. I'm rebuilding the "mancave" in order to make a better paint department so I've got a few models that haven't been painted yet. This model will obviously require continuous painting throughout the project so in a sense it's a means for getting the paint area done!😉

I'm a beginner modeller and only started building scale models again 6 weeks ago after a 30+ year hiatus. This model will test my patience and ability to stop before something goes wrong. Painting is something I still struggle with due to lack of experience, but I'm in no rush and I practise in order to get better! Never used an airbrush before but I'm slowly getting there.

Sorry for lack of progress the last week.
My painting skills were simply not up to scratch with AMMO of Mig paints and after a near disaster with the Mayback engine I decided to sort out that problem before I carried on.
I now think I've learned using the AMMO paints enough to get going again, but damn what a complex paint it is to use, compared to Tamiya e.g.

I can though say that the quality of the Takom King Tiger is fantastic and I really hope I can do it justice in the paint department when done?!
If you want to do one really highly detailed build - with "full" interior - this is the one!
When this is done I'm saving up for a 1/16 full interior build 😄

Finally some progress after making a huge error gluing the turret roof on by accident... sigh.
Also struggling with the AMMO paint and getting that to work has been a pain in the ...
The project is now on again and I will receive the needed AMMO thinner on Tuesday so I can continue painting the model.
The Friulmodel tracks are assembled and looking awesome though 🙂

Frustration - yet again - over the AMMO by Mig paint... sigh.
After weeks of trying to get it to work, and having some real success, I hit a new snag that's really annoying...

AMMO paint does not like to dry in humid weather!!! Come on!?!
The summer is more or less over and late August is soon September and that means humid weather and there's nothing I can do about that. In fact it's going to be humid until spring, unless I run the heating 24/7.
Does this mean that I can't use AMMO paint until spring?

I will find a way around this but this but when I'm done my whole collection of AMMO by Mig bottles are going in the bin and I'm sticking with Tamiya (and some Vallejo) in the future - that works whenever, wherever and however!!!

This project was going to be special in so many way but sadly it turned into a "special" project...

To be continued...
