This is the UK Gowland &Gowland Series Two.
It is not a Revell Highway Pioneer Series Two box.
In the USA, the Bentley was numbered higher than the Series Four , the Foreign car series in the blue boxes.
Someone deleted the proper USoriginal issue which had a separate box and wrongly repkaced it and many of the other 35 original boxing with the ten car gift set boxing.
That was an error which will take an extended effort to back out.

I am near centain the original Airfix offering is of Gowland & Gowland design and was preceded by the Revell manufacture and marketing of the Gowlands copyright. That would make the Airfix a decendent rather than a new mold. The 1911 Roll Royce is of like pedegre.

Steve Wilson ...
Finally found one at a sensible price!!!
This was the first model kit I ever built. My Aunty had bought it for me for Christmas. She was a Young Offenders Judge, she believed in buying sensible educational toys for Children, she knew I followed Motorsport and got me this!!! Now I've finally replaced it...

John Hubbard The project has started from seeing an inexpensive kit on eBay and recalling the models from many years ago.
A few pounds won the kit, although to Malta the postage was more than the kit. This was rapidly followed by the shock of prices for liquid glue and paints here not to mention the limited range, but on the flip side drying times are short :)
The kit has been started now and I at the stage where the engine block and ancillaries have been painted and assembled. The wheels have been cleaned up painted and assembled with the tyres added temporarily*. The chassis and petrol tank are now in the paint shop.
A couple of comments about the wheels, my wife prefers the 'steel wheel look' hence they are not green, but I also have a question, what is the best way to get rid of the greasy plastic look of the tyres? I would rather not paint them, and I have yet to wash them in any form of detergent. There was no sprue to check cleaner performance on so I'm a bit cautious with the approach on this bit.

I'll load a photo of current progress a bit later, but next step is to complete the chassis painting and add chassis items, at least that's the target for this week.
23. August 2014 at 12:16:09
John Hubbard Images #1 and #2 added today.
Since these were taken I've had the chance to paint the springs and hangers on the chassis and the steering shaft, although it is not yet fitted.
While these are drying I'll try to add the plug leads from the two distributor caps, although for this I need to find good reference photographs of both sides of the block in order to get the leads in the right order, i.e. cylinder order to cap order.
24. August 2014 at 14:47:03
Calvin Gifford John, perhaps try a little bit of automotive engine degreaser, or spray a little oven cleaner on them. You can rough up the tread with fine sandpaper, it is just a matter of getting rid of the "shinyness" of the vinyl tires.
24. August 2014 at 18:48:21
Phil Marchese My rule is always least intrusive first. dish detergent would be first. effervesent denture tablets work ggreat a clear parts. that might be a low custic try. moving up, cleanser would bleach, scuff microscopically and clean.
24. August 2014 at 20:58:03
Calvin Gifford Never thought of using denture tablets to clean! I will have to remember that!
24. August 2014 at 21:01:44

Roland Sachsenhofer Freut mich! Ist mir genauso gegangen- das Schachtelbild dürfte mit Abstand das Beste an diesem Modell sein...
25. May 2013 at 05:05:19
Manfred D.S.
25. May 2013 at 17:34:34
25. May 2013 at 20:33:38
Manfred D.S.
Danke.

Und damals dachte ich noch.. richtige Feinheiten erst bei größeren Maßstab.
Tja.. dann vielleicht nochmals ein gepflegtes Museumsstück in 1:24 :D

Jorge Ferreira Thank you for this excelent review. This kit is realy bad. I`m almost fifty so I can`t loose time on a kit like this. I already lost to much of modelling time on the Revell 1/12 Ferrari F2002.

Steve Cresswell I have struggled with this kit, I found the grill to be of terrible quality so I tried to improve it and ruined it so bought a spare and my second attempt was better. Now Humbrol have their enamel BRG out it can be painted better on the metal parts.
9. June 2014 at 14:48:11
Alexander Aristides Cronvall I saw that the grill is already pre chromed. But i usually strip all pre chromed parts and use alclads chrome instead. But thank you for the heads up Steve.

Roden LaGG 3 is almost done, Airfix Spitfire Mk.22 F-86f from Airfix all in 1:72 mate.
The Bentley is one of the few cars I'd like to build as a model.
2. June 2013 at 20:16:02
Mac Felsing Keep your eyes open. These older versions of this kit show up from time to time on ebay and the like. Also, I noticed a couple at the vendors booths at the last model show I went to.

Zimmermaniac I'm itching, and I'm not gonna resist scratching :) :)
25. April 2012 at 17:12:35
Wilfried Bogaerts Let me guess, you're gonna rig the wheel hubs yourself... :)
25. April 2012 at 21:15:11
Guido Haesevoets 129 euros is of course not 'gratis', but you get an awfull lot of kit in return and certainly one that will keep you busy for a while. Most cars in 1/20 scale (modern F1 in multimedia) are far in excess of that and basic kits from Fujimi in 1/24th half that price... so, price in this case is relative.

I think it's a lot of kit for the money. Go for it! ;)
