My rendition of Johannes Steinhoff's BF 109G-2 is now complete. Decals went on with no problems, except I had use some of my extra decals from other kits because those from Pössum Werks didn't all match the photos (e.g., black outline around the wing crosses). Weathering was heavier than usual for this hardworking airframe. The final flat coat was a mix of Alclad Matte and Flat. Enjoy the photos and thanks for looking.
"Achtung!Größtmaß 150-650". The fact that I can read this says it all: perfect build with great attention for detail!January 17, 2021
Thx Julian, here are the next pic´s. The 109 is almost ready to be paint. Cheers Stefan
Hello,
Nice, following...looking forward to completion. Trivia Canada has discontinued the penny! I guess i have use a paint tinlet for scale!
Can you please tell me about this group builds? I have an airfix BF-109G-6 i want do in swiss air force marking have two masking kit (forgot i had one i guess).
Very good job on the cockpit
Thanks Joshua for your kind words.
Everyone can participate in groupbuilds. You can find them under Community activities. Just attend the groupbuild and name you album like the groupbuild, for example: Scalemates Messerschmitt Bf 109 Group Build 2020. Then you're already in
You can also create a event as a groupbuild, choose a topic, define a few rules and a time period, then just a few mates need to join
Cheers Stefan
Is there start and end for the group build and who select the aircraft to build or tank or whatever
I think there is no start or end, you can join if you find a groupbuild you like. Every menber can choose a thema and start a groupbuild: events >> add new event >> type Groupbuild
Hi mates, after some progress in the project for the diorama the Bf 109 is back on the workbench. I start to highlight the landinggear with acrylcolors and wash with oilpaints. Cheers Stefan
Watching with interest - the very first completion of what may be the best 109E kit in 72 yet???
thank you! @Neil: I have seen a couple of other SH 109E-4 finished already, but not with the PeilG IV DF... This may be not the best 109E kit yet, but to me is the best looking for sure!!! It is not an easy build, in this aspect the best one is the Tamiya offering, but its surface details are astonishing, some of them I discovered only under magnification!!!
Thank you for sharing your experience and opinion of the kit Andrea. Fit and buildability is what I wanted to hear about so I'm grateful! The surfaces look great but as we all know, that's not worth much if lots of filling and sanding is needed. I do hope you tell us all more about this when you've comepletd the kit. Looking like it'll be soon...
Hi Neil, you will need no filler with this kit, just lots of dry fittings because the engineering of the parts is so tight that there is no rooms for paint between them! Only issue I found is the clear parts are a bit wider, may be it is only my fault but next time I will check before joining the half fuselages, maybe inserting a shim on the firewall sides. As I said, Tamiya is a quicker build: this kit is more demanding and if you have built an Eduard's FW 190 in 1:72 you will know what I am talking about!
I have nearly finished the first painting stage now, more pictures soon.
Thanks for your interest!
Thank you very much Andrea. Yes I have built an Eduard FW190F-8 and have an Eduard Bf110G-4 on the bench so I know exactly what you mean. Tight tolerances I'm happy with, loose tolerances may suit some builders but I prefer precision. I think you've convinced me I will like this kit. Really looking forward to seeing how those beautiful surfaces look under some paint. January 16, 2021
