Alistair Graham I would like to build a ship for a change, but the scales confuse me. A fighter plane in a certain scale is predictable in size, as is a tank, but ships could be any length unless you know what your talking about. I wish they would put the dimensions on the websites and boxes. I might inadvertantly order something that turns out to be 3ft long!!

Ingmar Stöhr Hm, I thought that thei have the length on the box. Revell does have it. But why not just go to Wikipedia to check how long the ship was then divide this by the scale.
A Bismarck in 1/350 will be 71cm or 28" a typical Destroyer would be around 45cm or 17"
In 1/700 they will be exactly half this size.
I don't see why this should be more complicated than with planes. You can hardly compare a F-111 and a Bf 109 in size even in the same scale. A Bf 109 in 1/48 will be smaller than a f-111 in 1/72... Wait, that's confusing

Christian Bruer Hi Alistair, if you want to build a ship and want to have fun, I can highly recommend this one:
USS Livermore DD-429 (Dragon 1027, 1:350)

Lenght is approx. 298mm and it is easy to build because of high quality moulding and sub assemblies.

Alistair Graham Cheers for that, i am looking to make a start on a ship. I had done quite a few planes and swapped to AFV and soft sinned trucks so need another change of scenery, long slim things are easier to store than models with sticking out parts like planes.
