Kerry Cox Welcome to the club Pierre Henry, :) And I am sure you will enjoy all that happens here. :)
There are many, many, wonderful and most helpful people here that will have all the encouragement and help you could wish for.
As they look in on your build, they will have something to say. :)
This looks like a large kit and I am wondering who makes it. ?
Cheers.
27. January 2016 at 04:43:25
Pierre Henry Laugier It's a Trumpeter kit 1/32.
What do you think about it for the moment?
27. January 2016 at 12:36:18
Kerry Cox I have just done some visuals on Google 'images' on the kit, as I have built the Tamiya 1/48 kit, and know nothing about this Trumpeter kit at all, except from what I have just seen.

Do you plan to add all the brass and stow the wings in the folded position. ?
From what I am seeing here, it looks to be a most challenging build and I will not really be able to say much until I see what else your going to do with it, but it looks like a heap of fun for sure. :)
27. January 2016 at 13:01:33
Pierre Henry Laugier I think I will do one wing folded and the other open. I didn't bought the BIGEd kit that go with it. So I think I will do some other stuff from scratch like the little thinggy arround the yoke. Even me I don't know where I am going with it and what kind of home made improvment I'll do. I am going to work on seat belt.

John E Nice build. How did you like this kit? I haven't built it yet.
08. February 2015 at 23:49:28
Anthony Jordan Thanks John. I like the kit, I just wish my building skills were better! It is nicely detailed, and the final product looks good, to my eyes. Decals apply cleanly, although I would recommend some sort of setting solution such as decal fix, especially for the fuselage codes, given the profile of the area over which they sit. I was surprised how few stencils there were, but perhaps the FAA didn't go in for them? The moulding of some parts is very fine, which is great, but it does demand particular care in removing them, as the plastic is inclined to both bend and snap! The outer wing struts have a subsidiary strut behind them, and I broke both whilst extracting them, so I eventually abandoned my side cutters for the finer pieces. From the instructions I wasn't sure how to assemble the cockpit tub and made the wrong choice, making it slightly too wide, which it then needed a lot of glue, clamping and brute force to correct when I put the fuselage halves together. The efforts made by Airfix to simplify the assembly of the wings were effective, though. Overall a very good kit.
09. February 2015 at 09:01:08
Anthony Jordan Further thought - if you follow the placement of the "B" code shown in the French profile, then placement and settling of these decals may be a bit easier.
09. February 2015 at 09:54:47
soheil moghisi Nice job.

Anthony Jordan Thank you both!
09. February 2015 at 18:34:18
John E Thanks for the tips, Anthony! I will use them if and when I build that kit. I really dislike it when things gon't go as planned. ;)
10. February 2015 at 06:03:24
Anthony Jordan John, you're very welcome. This build for the first time I 90% finished painting the fuselage and inner surfaces of the wings before putting them together, which I found substantially easier, and will try to remember next time. I wish I had thought to put on the lower wing decals at the same time!

Anthony Jordan Unlike the picture sourced above, the Airfix painting guide doesn't show the standard RAF/FAA fin flash in use. I'm minded to use it anyway!
11. January 2015 at 00:52:05
Anthony Jordan And I did, adds a welcome splash of colour. I also followed the above profile, but deviated from the painting guide, by roughly painting-out the "Royal" of "Royal Navy" above the port and starboard serial codes.I also applied an interpretation of the two schemes to create the camouflage pattern, as the Airfix painting guide showed the same pattern on both port and starboard sides, which seemed inherently unlikely, as well as being contradicted by the overhead view. It is also worth noting that some of the painting instructions given in the course of the build are different from those parts as shown in the painting guide, for example the bomb racks and rocket carriers, which are both 85 Coal Black according to the instructions, but 90 Beige Green (approx Sky) according to the painting guide. The kit comes with a torpedo and its impedimenta plus two extra rockets, and so is a useful source of spares.

Jens simply brilliant, and the mark sometimes exotic beautiful

Ulf Petersen The model is absolutely beautiful - on the other hand the presentation would benefit from a little more info and facts.
16. September 2014 at 07:14:59
Vladimir Kafka Well everything is on the internet already, I guess..anyway: this machine of 833 NAS took part in operation Torch: allied amphibious assault on French north Africa. It was based in Gibraltar and on HMS BITER, fulfilling anti-sub duties for the operation. Fun facts - apart from false US markings which I already described in other thread - 1. This machine is a bit of a hybrid between Mk.I and Mk.II versions, although listed as a Mk.I, it already has the taller oil cooler (therefore probably a newer Pegasus engine) and radar equipment (see the yagi antennae), but also old style generator pipes (the thingy on fuselage top behind the engine). 2. HMS BITER served with French Navy after war.

enough? ;)

14. September 2014 at 23:21:47
Alan Rush Nice Vladimir! Is there a story behind the markings. Still "Royal Navy" on fuselage yet American otherwise. Where was this used and stationed? Didn't know U.S. used Swordfish, but then again I don't know much about Swordfish! :)
15. September 2014 at 01:13:14
Vladimir Kafka Thanks.
This is a marking from operation Torch - the US markings were given to british planes, because it probably seemed... awkward to attack their former French allies (again! remember Mers-el-Kebir) with regular markings :) Also, supposedly, the US AA gunners were too trigger happy and the familiar white stars reduced risk of friendly fire.

Fabian D. My contribution to the groupbuild, although it´s started, I´ll need probably pretty much the same time as with an unstarted kit, as I need to clean up the whole build...

The engine might be the hardest part, as the pattafix I used for masking got old over the years and is now real pain to remove from the tiny ribs of the cilinders... but again what learned ;)

Bill Gilman Holy cow! Everything you've read about this kit is true. The engineering of the kit is stunning. But I've never built a bi-plane before. I'm already having nightmares about the rigging! :)

Don't wonder about the brand, MPM re-issued this Cooperativa kit with EXACTLY same box-art, just added 'white' stickers to the sides.

very well done and the paintjob is smooth and accuracy!
The clipped wing is a nice technical feature! Looks more busy now. The rigging is also well done!
All in all a fine model!

Markus Fabke Hi,

thank you :).

Great job, which motivates me to finish my own stringbag.

My problem is with the bracing wires. Did you use the ones provided by Trumeter, which are very stiff? Or did uou use something else?

16. December 2011 at 12:37:06
Wilfried Bogaerts I heard there are a LOT of ordnance options on this one, not only torpedoes and rockets (for later versions) but also depth charges, fuel tanks, mines, flares ... so we will have to buy this kit in family packs !
16. December 2011 at 12:40:51
Wilfried Bogaerts check out Xtradecals sheet X72108 & X72134 for additional options

New sheet X72144 should be available the end of January

If only I could find someone to do the rigging for me ... :(
