Martin Oostrom I got the same kit in another boxing somewhere in the stash. I'm curious how she turned out.
Any snags in the build?

Dutch Yes, I have another different one in the stash as well. It will become a R4Q-2 of the Marines. Somewhere along the way I obtained a resin nose from Leading Edge, but no RCAF decals. So I thought it is perfect for the R4Q-2. Kursad at Caracal Models has some C-119/R4Q artwork he will release someday. We on ARC Forum have been encouraging him.
Robert W Martel Bryn, I built this one. Just OOB, but it's a pretty decent kit, went together easier than I expected.

Bryn Crandell So true. I still have the Gunship version to build.

Robert W Martel Yea I would like to do that one too, since it's a pretty easy build. I like the way it has separate interior panels. There's also one that comes w/a vehicle,,, Dodge truck or something I think.
Dutch @Michel: No, these are long out of service. Search for Asmara airport in Eritrera on Google Maps and look for the aircraft dump.
@Gerald: Air America never flew C-119s, AFAIK. They flew the little brother, C-123s instead.

Stefan Schneider Hi Dutch, the Squadron Publications book "Arab Air Forces" contains a colour photo of a Jordanian Air Force C-119. The camouflage is very similar to the one shown in your album. I can make a scan if this would help?

Dutch Stefan, Yes, please do and email to me. R/ Dutch
Glenn . That's interesting Dutch never knew they used it!
24. April 2013 at 13:44:37
Dutch Yep, USMC used 39 or 41* R4Q-1 (C-119C) and 99 R4Q-2 (C-119F). Mostly retired by Active USMC units after receiving new KC-130Fs 1959-1962. USMC Reserves used through 1971. *[Depending on source; I haven't fully vetted this number, yet.] Haven't started yet, still have to create & print decal artwork. R/ Dutch
Glenn . Trust me Augie it's big enough in 72 scale! But it's a wonder that Italeri hasn't done it in 48!
14. April 2013 at 13:02:51
Augie Thanks Glenn, I had one long a go on 72nd.. about the same size as a 48th B-25..
would make a very striking kit in 48th.. just like a C-123 would.. or a C-46

Glenn . Hi Augie, I brought mine about 20 years or so ago when it first came out (yes it's still to be built! ) just been re-released! Did you get that EC-135 AMtech kit I told you about on ebay still about 20 left?
Glenn . Good on ya! I haven't seen EC-135 ARIA's for sale since it first came out plus I wanted some spare engines! for all the other 135's I have. What i really want is the Maintrack RC-135U conversion set anybody have one they want to sell or copy?
