Thank you all, Mates, much appreciated.
@Jan - actually I have bought another one and it is waiting for its time (i.e. for my decision if I want a RAF or rather a Swedish plane.

Very nice! This is one of the most modeller-friendly kits I have ever made. I liked it so much that I am considering building the next one... 😉

The kits itself is, but for me I could not get the decals to be in the correct place!
I also have two more!

All decals, they were very fiddly and I genuinely could t get them to line up, the wing ones were very brittle too.
But I'm happy with how it all turned out.

Hi Olly. Yes, yes very apt. I like that!
Thank you very much Martin.
I like the look of that one Cuajete!

Airfix have been turning out some great new kits lately- several of which are residing in my cupboard waiting to be built - Phantom FG.1 1/72, Walrus 1/48, BE2C 1/72...

Hi Łukasz Gliński. I use Vallejo varnishes. They are great. And diluted with a little water hardly leave brush marks at all. Not sure if they are available for spray painting ?(i would expect so). Are you tempted with the Airfix swedish scheme ? I am.
18. September 2018, 11:46
Łukasz Gliński
In my case hard to decide which one is more tempting - Airfix Swedish or PrintScale's Jordanian. But as I have already the Irish on the shelf, I decided to take some time before building another one, the current stash is too big probably😉

Thanks a lot Robert! The kit contains a clear nose, the clear panel is a unique feature of the Canadian Vampires. I'm not sure about the reason for it, I guess it's for ease of maintenance.

Hardest part was sanding the intakes in place, as they are too small in height. Be warned of the decals, too. Once positioned, they look really great. But the red parts on the intakes didn't fit ...or I just didn't undertand the genius of the invention. So I had to touch up the area a little, but i'm quite satisfied with the result. The roundels on the wings were sanded smoothly to get rid of the transparent film.

Other than that, the kit is a real gem. The cockpit is very nice, surface detail super-crisp, and the engine interior a nice, but later not to be seen seen goodie. I only used the old diamond tread wheels to come closer the original and scratched the underwing antenna. To imitate the navigation lights, I drilled a little hole from underneath and filled it with a tiny drop of paint.

These Vampires were maintained very well, so only little wheathering in the engine bay area was done with oils. After all, a highly recommeded kit that can be done easily on some evenings in a week.

Thanks for all these explanations (and warnings 😉 ) Really much appreciated. If you ever wished to build a two-seater, I can wholeheartedly recommend Airfix offering.

Great looking Vampire, Mirko! I live about 45 km southwest of St. Hubert. There is a two-seat Vampire that gives rides in Ontario (www.waterloowarbirds.com)

Gloss coat applied. The real Swedish Vampires actually had a glossy and very clean paintcoat, so I might keep it even after decalling and weathering although I don't generally like the look of shiny aircraft models.

Mid Franconian
Wow! The self leveling capability of the Gauzy agent is impressive 😮 I cannot tell that it has been applied by brush!
23. November, 20:42
Thomas Kolb
Mid Franconian, yes it is really great stuff. You don't get a showroom car shine with a brush, but it's great as base for decals and for sealing the paint before applying weathering.
