I'm looking for USS Enterprise NCC1701Refit / NCC1701A decals because I had a problem painting my kit and I would like to redo it and paint it to correct errors. Someone here on the website would have these decals for sale and if they did, they could pass me the value and shipping via PalPay to be able to buy and receive here in Brazil

I completed my 25th Anniversary Enterprise on January 30, 2020. It looks great, but I ruined one decal on the portside of my model. If anyone knows where I could purchase another set of decals for my 1701-A 1/350 scale model #6957, please let me know.

why don't you email to AMT asking them for a new decal sheet. Otherwise you have to ask other modelers to scan the decal sheet and make them on your own

Hi Thanasis, thanks for the good idea. I have since discovered from the people at Federation Models LLC that in the early 1990's the decals were not always uniform. Also, my model is actually a 1/537th scale and I am learning a lot about the Star Trek model building world.

There are decals available from Federation Models (PNT), HDA Modelworx, and JT-Graphics that are better than the AMT decals, if you're willing to buy decals rather than hope for a free replacement from Ertl:

Thank you Mike. I just started cracking at it, dry fitted the 2 saucer halves together, and the bridge + lower domes. The fit is not perfect, I small gabs to deal with, and the saucer needs sanding down I places to get the 2 halves to flush up perfectly. Other then that, no sink holes anywhere, no flash to speak of, and the fit is excellent considering it is a "snap" kit. Should go together perty good, so far...

I haven't even unboxed mine, except for stashing all the different decals, photoetch, and resin upgrades bought for the kit. Looked at the photos in your other album and makes you wonder if the kit molders are getting some sort of kickback or something from putty makers. Steady as she goes!

Lol! Ya, I think so ;). The decals look amazing for this one, not cartograph, but that other company that competition to them. Reading build reviews, same issues as i'm seeing, and the decals are a little thick, but still excellent. And maybe thicker is better when dealing with individual pieces this big. They scare me a bit. I've built a few models in the past, but always stopping short of doing decals. This is going to be my first "real" try at decaling myself. Like you say, "Steady as she goes!".

Welcome to SCM! However SCM is not a retail website! It's a pure modelling data base. If you click on the kit you're interesred in, scroll down an you'll find some online stores where you can order from....if the kit is available at all.

I have that kit if you have any questions. Btw, this kit does not contain the Aztec decals. I plan to airbrush on mine. This model is fairly large. Unsure how long, but maybe say 60-70cm. I plan to make a custom stand for mine when I get the time. :) The parts are white, and some are clear parts.

Hi, yes, started, but presently on hold. I did some work to try to make the recessed panel lines look more subtle. I hope to get back to the project in 2018. Thanks for asking!

I built one, It's a monster! Where the nacelle supports meet the 2nd deck will need putty and sanding. I also had problems with the Aztec pattern being cut too short! Check yours. Best wishes

It is here important to state that the newer kits in 1:350 from Polar Lights no longer contain Aztek decals.
4. January 2018, 11:38
Tim Heimer
Yes the polar lights kit has inaccurate windows.. I had to work on most of them and hardly used the windows provided.
4. January 2018, 15:28
Treehugger
I am currently re-drilling the windows on mine. Using putty didn't work well, neither Vallejo putty or Squadron Green putty, whenever the drill bit dug partly into putty and partly into plastic, so I now try filling the holes with rods of styrene, then adding liquid glue, then cut short, sand down, and THEN drill a small hole for proper centering, then drilling a new hole with 1.8 mm drill bit.

Is this kit already released or pending?
15. August 2017, 06:57

I myself had major problems with the poor quality decals, had 2 sheets of the Aztec decals cut 1/2 inch too short as well as another sheet which some of the decals splintered! The kit skill rating should be higher due to some things only a skilled builder would know. Again I myself was disappointed in this kit.

This is looking great. I must drag out my Millennium Falcon and get stuck into that, I want to light up the engine area with pale blue light and add all the landing lights around and under the body. I was planing on using a small neon or fluro tube to light the engine area but that would require a transformer to power it. But i got some offcut strips of prewired RGB (red, green, blue) LED strips from work. (I work for a company that makes lighting equipment for film/TV concert use) We made a lot of dimming equipment for a "little sci-fi movie" being filmed at the moment, Can't mention the name...? Anyway but episodes 7,8,9 are being filmed at the moment... These strips come in a roll prewired. You can pick them up on Ebay for only a few dollars and can be cut to length and powered by a small 9V battery. The Great thing is that each color is wired separate so if you light the Blue and Green only i can get a lovely pale blue light just like the real one! so I'll use them instead. Might even light the cockpit with some fiber-optic to light up the controls.
