F-14 A Tomcat, VF-1

Scale:
1:48
Status:
In progress
Started:

Rebuild of an old Italeri F-14A Tomcat in 1:48 that I built when I was 16.
It is going to be built as a very early Tomcat from VF-1. To achieve this it needs some backdating:
-Gun gas purge vents in grille style,
-Beaver tail, wide as on the early models but with the lateral fairings taken out, as seen in period pictures.
I will mount it on a stand, as if flying supersonic. For that, the following will be done:
-Air intakes modified with lowered ramps and open bypass ducts, as appropriate for supersonic flight.
-Fully open nozzles for the TF-30s.
-Extended glove vanes.
-And of course some figures for the crew, which are some resin clones from those that came with my Academy F-4B Phantom II.
