The Macchi 207 was the last project of the Varese company for an interceptor fighter, and it was a powerful monoplane equipped with the 1.750 hp DB.603A at take-off. Externally it looked like a slightly elongated MC 206, but there is a difference in the armament carried to four 20mm Mauser MG.151 wing guns, without, for the first time, the two 12.7 mm SAFATs mounted in the nose.
The construction of the fuselage was started before September 1943 but the work was suspended with the armistice. It was only in 1947-1948 that the "C.207" could be completed, mounting a twelve-cylinder "V" -shaped Packard "Merlin" of nearly 1,500 hp (taken from a P-51 or a Spitfire mk.IX) as was the case with the contemporary FIAT G.55, which became G.59. However, the trials were not followed up and the remaining structures of Aer.Macchi's latest fighter model were later demolished.

Aniway, the only existing picture shows an aircraft using the MC202-205 fuselage. I use this picture as the cover of this project.

My plan, therefore, is to build a "complete" aircraft, using the MC 202 Italeri, some parts from the MC 205 Italeri, the Kit from Italian kits and some decals from my stash: the Sky decals for Veltros or the new Tauro decals for the Spitfires mkIX in Italian service (as if the MC205M was used instead of the Spits).

My main reference is the article "Marco Gueli, L'Aermacchi C.205, Storia Militare nº252, Edizioni Storia Militare, ottobre 2014". Another good reference is the book "Spitfire italiani ", wich reports the cover picture and the information that the engine came probably from a Spitfire.

As a reference for the model, I'll follow the perfect work from:
