Japanese Islewar Infantry (ICM)

Even before the war, the Japanese army leadership was characterized by two different concepts. Dars of the army that preferred a land war to Russia and China to secure raw materials and the island war preferred by the navy. This planned to conquer large areas in the Pacific in order to further expand the sphere of influence of the Navy and Air Force and thus better protect supply lines. Both were expansive strategies designed to secure huge territorial gains for Japan.
Different infantry uniforms were procured for both concepts. The uniform for the land war was beige and yellow with the typical kepis. The uniform for the island war was specially adapted to this. She was thinner and lighter, wore a bonnet with sunscreen for the neck, and was khaki-green.
At the beginning of the war, the land war was carried out and significant territorial gains were made. On the one hand, large parts of Manchuria were wrested from China and Russia, on the other hand, large parts of Asia were conquered, including Korea and Singapore, which were under British rule.
This was followed by the island war with the conquest of island groups deep in the Pacific. This is also where the decisive confrontations with the USA took place, which finally led to the end of the war.

The ICM Kit "Japan Infantry (1942-1945)" shows this island warfare uniform. The set is very detailed and the building and painting instructions are ok. I actually wished for painting instructions that went into much more detail about the individual details of the equipment.
The construction was easy.

Die japanische Armeeführung wurde schon vor dem Krieg durch zwei unterschiedliche Konzepte geprägt. Dars des Heers das einen Landkrieg Russland und China präferierte um Rohstoffe zu sichern und den von der Marine bevorzugen Inselkrieg. Dieser sah vor groß Gebiete im Pazifik zu erobern um den Einflussbereich der Marine und Luftwaffe weiter auszuweiten und so Nachschublinien besser schützen zu können. Beides waren expansive Strategien um Japan riesige Gebietsgewinne zu sichern.
Für beide Konzepte wurden unterschiedliche Uniformen für die Infanterie beschafft. Die Uniform für den Landkrieg war beige-gelb mit für die typischen Käppis. Die Uniform für den Inselkrieg war speziell an diesen angepasst. Sie war dünner und leichter, hatte ein Käppis mit Sonnenschutz für den Nacken und khaki-grün.
Anfang des Krieges wurde der Landkrieg durchgeführt und erhebliche Gebietsgewinne erzielt. Zum Einen wurde China und Russland große Teile der Mandschurei abgerungen zum Anderen große Teile Asiens erobert, darunter Korea und Singapur die unter britischer Herrschaft standen.
Anschließend folgte der Inselkrieg mit den Eroberungen von Inselgruppen bis tief in den Pazifik. Hier fanden auch die entscheidenden Konfrontationen mit den USA statt welche schließlich zum Ende des Kriegs führten.

Das ICM Kit "Japan Infantry (1942-1945)" zeigt diese Inselkrieg-Uniform. Das Set ist sehr Detailgetreu und die Bau- und Bemalungsanleitung ist ok. ich wünschte mir eigentlich Bemalungsanleitungen die viel genauer auf die einzelnen Details der Ausrüstung eingingen.
Der Bau war problemlos.
