The P-3 Orion
An exponential leap in ASW, coming at a time of heightened tensions of submarine delivered MAD (mutual assured destruction) threat. Greater range, endurance and advanced avionics; consolidation of what was a divided airborne and surface joint task: the hunter-killer.
Representing early-mid career deployment to the coasts of Vietnam, near shore reconnaissance and interdiction of North Vietnamese logistics efforts.
