With Rommel in full retreat from El Alamien (Egypt), an Anglo American Invasion of Vichy French Morocco and Algeria was undertaken on Nov 8, 1942. Initial Vichy resistance was overcome after several days of combat and all eyes were set on the main objective, Tunisia. The Race was on.
