Ghost in the Shell

In these strange times many things that no one could have dreamt are happening for real; one of these weird abnormalities is that I built a model of a tank! It's the first in my adult life... Yes it' the T-34 as a part of the group challenge between few modeling friends I keep in touch on-line.

It all started quite innocently, as I wanted to build something very rusty and use some of the techniques I learned about, but would never get to apply on an airplane. It was supposed to be a generic abandoned T-34 without much reference in time and space, but then I started finding many images of these tanks used in the wars during the break-up of Yugoslavia, so it gradually evolved towards a machine used in this conflict that I have personal connection with. One does not usually associate a WWII tank with modern wars, but this old weapon was indeed used in the 90-ies and in large numbers.

This is still a speculative vehicle, but deeply rooted in the actual appearance of such tanks in many period photos. It represents an abandoned Serbian tank in the late nineties slowly rotting away somewhere in the Bosnian hills.

It was quite fun to build and especially to weather and I can imagine few more in the years to come... Also there's a base to be finished for this one. I will be adding more photos with the details of the model and finished vignette when I get it made.
