In 2014 this Bf 109G-14 was dug up during excavation works in Schwerin, northern Germany. I want to depict it before this fatal last flight piloted by a yet to be positively identified Leutnant Schmitt at the controls.
I was really intrigued by AZ’s box-art, their decals and the very unusual color scheme. However, I wasn’t sold on the G-14/AS fuselage halfs as I found the details to be on the soft side. I managed to find a relatively cheap FineMolds G-10 (amazing what these kits go for! 😮 ) and will use the FineMolds kit as a base and add the AZ decals and assorted parts to distinguish between a G-10 and a G-14/AS.
