Sincerly, when i opened the box and see this crappy kit I was thinking to throw it to the Junk.
The kit was not very nice, lot of problem and molding default.
Used putty to correct and learn a lot of it.
First painting was missed, i tried my old Tamya red and it was good for the Junk.
I have make this project in the same time with a Airfix Red Arrow.
Must take the two planes and try different technics to remove paint.
When most of the bad paint was removed I have used Italeri Gloss Red acrylics.
I have then used glossy polish to finish the model after putting decals on it.
Too bad the decals are not very white.
Also I have make the masking of the canopy to reproduce the IRL canopy.
Finally, its a beautiful plane and I'm very happy to not have put it in the trash.

Haha! I understand exactly what you mean Philippe! I love the Comet and have made 2 x Airfix and a Frog. Frog far superior. The Black Magic Comet was the first kit I did - I took AGES! My Comet album here...

By coincidence I am also making Red Arrows - Folland Gnats - at the same time. 🙂

It takes so much filler and patience! Very satisfying ...but when I was making the first one and looking at my stash, I thought it would take 100 years to make them all! Luckily, these old Airfix Comets are just unusually bad because of the worn out tool. Other kits are so much easier! Thankfully the Comet didn't put me off modelling for ever!

Keep the faith!

I am fortunate to live near where the real 'Grosvenor House' Comet flies Philippe - The Shuttleworth Collection. It's a beautiful to see and hear it fly! 🙂
