German mortar team, 1:35
I bought Verlinden kit as part of a bundle on eBay, only to realise that mortar itself is missing half of parts. Rather than bin entire thing as figures were OK I decided to buy different mortar kit. Not an easy task as most of these kits come with crew but luckily ICM filled that particular gap. And even if ICM kit is of 8cm mortar instead of 12cm on Verlinden kit the swap wasn’t hard.
Mortar kit is pretty fine. Simple build you can finish in under an hour, the only thing you need to pay attention to is what angle you’ll give to tube. Obviously it has small parts but nothing too fiddly. The only downside is lack of extra ammo, you get three boxes with you can build open or closed and 4 mortar rounds.
For figures I opted for camouflage pattern rather than suggested feldgrau. Because I could, that’s why. The figures have ammo pouches moulded on them so I had to use two rifles from spares box. The only problem was that one figure’s pose was setting mortar aiming contraption thingy but as 8cm mortar is different than intended 12cm pose didn’t work, so I had to use in different place.
Simple groundwork.
Overall quite happy with how it turned out.
