Album info

1/48 Otaki 1975 original issue Grumman F6F-3, famous but short lived "Cat-mouth" markings of VF-27. 2010 build with scratch built resin copy Monogram P-47 P&W-2000 engine. Airbrushed with Testors Model Master enamels, Testors lacquer clear coat. Decals Aeromaster 48-600, Hellcats Best Sellers, Part II. Three VF-27 pilots, Carl Brown, Richard Stambook, Robert Burnell thought up the idea. Burnell personally painted most of the designs on the squadron aircraft. After the October 24, 1944 sinking of the Princeton, Navy brass ordered it removed from all surviving squadron aircraft.
