Due to an extreme lack of time, it has taken over 2 years to complete this model. I think some of the issues that I am going to state next are most probably a lack of experience (exercise within the discipline).
I am not 100% happy with this model. There are lots of "happy accidents" that are part of the ‘skill of modelling’ to fix, of which I am still a novice. However, my main issue were the decals:
Firstly, the instructions. The timing of the placement in conjunction with the build could be a lot better. I kind of forgive the big Motorhead text on the undercarriage as this was obvious when it needed placement. Its more the skellington on the tail. I had to cut the decal and cannot get the two halves to marry back together seamlessly. Also, where you need to paint some of the clear parts black (front), it does not look that good when looking in. My suggestion would be to (carefully) paint the opposite sides RLM77 (Cockpit Colour).
Secondly, and more frustrating than the above was the quality of the decals. They kept breaking up on me. I had to admit, I am not used to such big decals, but I found it very hard to move them into place once transferred from the backing paper - they kept splitting or curling under themselves. I did use Micro Set / Sol, which may have softened them too much…
Despite this and being a Motorhead fan – It’s a fun model with simple paint work. But also, tricky to get separational tones of complete black.
