About me

On August 1965 (my 12th birthday…) I built my first aircraft model. It was Revell’s HRS-1 in 1/48, with a “Flight-Portrait Box Top You Can Frame”. I was immediately captivated – for good – with the magic of building aircraft models. Naturally, the quality of my builds improved with experience and then came the time for positioning the models upon self-made bases. These were full wood heavy objects, made to standard dimensions by my favorite carpenter, with sides and lower surfaces carefully sanded and painted, and tops – oh, the tops – meticulously researched and manipulated to display my beloved models within their environments. Then came the commissioned jobs and I realized that there is a significant demand for these bases.
