Hi All!

This summer I got a request to make a WWI diorama for the new aeroplane history museum in Szolnok. They want an 1:72 dio of the KuK (Kreuzerund und Königlich) airfiled in Pergine (Italian front) as seen in 1916. Naturally not the whole airfield because the space (and time!) is limited but the aim is that the scene have to be typical KuK and be recognizeable the setting if someone ever seen the archive photos.

There were some difficulties: they provided archive photos but not much more information so one my friend who is a dedicated modeler AND an architect 🙂 (Bela Keresztes) helped me out with traced the photos a made plans about the most typical KuK style 1914typ hangar. The whole scene will be 100x80cm and includes 10 aeroplanes and figures also. The planes will be made by other modelers.

First the plans had to be converted into vector format as I wanted the frames to cut by laser by a decor shop. After several attempts they managed to cut these frames from 2mm plexiglas. Close enough for my original intention.

Interesting!
With k.u.k. you probably mean "kaiserlich und königlich" (Imperial and Royal)?
