First experience with Trumpeter for me and I'm positive about it. The Panther is a pretty bird and the kit is enjoyable.
Main lessons learned:
1) some parts on the underside of the wings must be attached AFTER applying the decals. Found this out the hard way 🙁
2) I simply held the canopy with both sides between thumb and index finger, without exerting any real force and I cracked it 🙁(
3) VMS clear varnishes (gloss and matt) _say_ they can be sprayed undiluted, but I found out the hard way this is not a good idea. They have their own thinner, but I experimented with what I have and found that the varnish responds well to Tamiya X-20A at a 1:1 dilution ratio. Made it well sprayable at 25 psi with a 0.15 needle.
4) I sprayed the white on the wings after spraying the blue. It would have been easier to do it the other way around.
5) IMHO Tamiya X-2 white is not suited for airbrush in a situation like this one. It's just too clear, it doesn't seem to contain enough pigment.
