An Aerosleigh (for Russian «аэросани»- «aerosani») is a mechanical vehicle that is not equipped with a transmission. It moves due to a pushing propeller driven by an internal combustion engine. Simply put, the screw located at the back, rotating, makes the sled slide on skis on snow or on floats on water. Usually aerosanes use aircraft engines and propellers.

Starting from the 20s, aerosleighs were built in the USSR for the development of the North and for military needs. At the end of the 50s, several dozen «Sever-2» sleds were manufactured using the cab and body parts of the «Pobeda» car.

In 1962, the «Progress» plant began the development of Ka-30 aerial sleds, which more fully met the requirements, using modern design solutions for those years. The «Dalmashzavod» enterprise in Komsomolsk-on-Amur mastered their production in 1966, and the annual output was 25-30 cars. In the production of the Ka-30, aviation technologies developed at the Kamov Design Bureau were used.
