It made sense to tackle a project for a convertible, as I had already assembled a 1968 Beetle with Revell number 07083. Many drivers love to drive a convertible at the weekend when the weather is nice. If a rain shower does come, this model even offers a closed hood. I designed both hoods to be interchangeable.
First I took the model parts out of the box and looked at the quality. All parts were perfect. That means no sink marks and no streaks in the glasses.
Now I assembled the 1500 ccm engine according to the assembly instructions, the detailing of which I liked. The coloring and the position for the decals must be observed. Before inserting the motor into the chassis, I painted the underside with black matte paint. Then I carefully installed the front car (step 20). After that I put in the motor (step 14-20). Although I measured the 4 axes, the finished model wobbles a bit with the attached wheels.
Now comes the interior. In step 34 I made the holes in the chassis, then painted it matt black and also roughened it up by sandblasting. This was followed by the painting of the bench and chairs. Afterwards I detailed the seat seams with a blue pencil. With the next steps 35 - 44 I followed the assembly instructions. I painted the body with the bonnet and trunk lid (fixed with tape) with the color light blue. Then I put the decals on the body shell. Now followed the clear coat and finally the polish. I continued the detailing of the exterior with the existing chrome and clear parts according to the assembly instructions. Of course, a spare tire had to be placed in the front trunk. Unfortunately, the windows didn't jump right into the frame. Finally, I put an antenna in place made of silver wire.
