ART MODELS 1/72 MiG-23PD.
Although it is called PD, it is actually called ''23-01'' and is a prototype in the process of switching to side intakes when loading radar on the MiG-21. Equipped with two RD-36 lift fan engines to achieve STOL (Short Takeoff and Landing) capability.
There were various problems, such as two auxiliary engines becoming deadweight, and in the end, a variable wing plan called "23-02" was adopted, and this officially became the MiG-23. Fighters at this time wanted a system that could take off efficiently out of fear that the runway would be destroyed by the US military, and a similar requirement was made for Su-24.
I was prepared to work on it, but the contents of the kit are quite good.
I think that the characteristic lift fan, precise engine and cockpit, and armament are also accurately reproduced. I had the impression that only the angle of the tail blade was slightly different from the drawing, so I corrected it and cut out the cover of the lift fan to open a slit. I think it will be quite different with just this.
I would like to line up with the MiG-23 family. It's a rare kit, so don't hesitate to make a reservation if it goes on sale again!
