The ATF Twins

Album image #1
Exhaust areas painted gunmetal as basecoat for the metalcolor coats to follow.

Plenty of weight added, fixed with white glue.

Album image #2
Exhaust nozzles in place, nothing dramatic as they're barely visible when the two halves are joined.

The YF-23 cockpit received some extra detailing to satisfy my sensibilities! Those old business cards are always useful.

Album image #4
Rear deck and seat side panels.

Album image #5
Hint of an instrument panel.

Album image #6
Considering where the c of g is, I added plenty of weight forward of the mainwheels to ensure the YF-23 wouldn't be a tail-sitter.

Album image #7
Cockpits were ready for masking by April 11.

Album image #8
The YF-22 was built as the second a/c, PAV 02, s/n 87-0701, N22YX, sprayed with AV ModelAir colors.

Album image #9
The YF-23 was built as PAV 01, s/n 87-0801, painted charcoal grey (AV 71-258) overall and nicknamed "Black Widow II" after the WWII P-61.
