Pick-up

Album image #1
This is very basic.

Album image #2
The hubs were painted with Tamiya XF-16 Flat Aluminum.

Album image #3
A black oil wash makes these more interesting.

Album image #4
The seats started to get upgraded. I put wide 3M masking tape onto the surface, pressed into the crevices with a toothpick, and cut the edges with a #14 blade.

Album image #5
Original vs tape covered seat.

Album image #6
After painting the tape with gray, I started to create the damages with the point of the scalpel.

Album image #7
The rubber parts are painted.

Album image #8
The first big mistake. Painted the base with Vallejo Steel, then applied hair spray.

Album image #9
Main color, with some dirt in the cabin. After the green, I sealed it with varnish - I should have not done that.

Album image #10
After seeing lots of vehicles with added armor, I created these from 0.15 brass sheet.

Album image #11
The logo is from a kit from AliExpress.

Album image #12
I created the weld joins with Vallejo Putty, painted black, then highlighted with a grapthine pencil.

Album image #13
The drum brakes got their rust (artist shop acrylic paints).

Album image #14
So, the platform's sides were made from thin plastic stripes and balsa wood.

Album image #15
Some balsa weathering.

Album image #16
A bit of looted gear on the truck (several details in a different album).

Album image #17
I'm still very stuck on this, but decided to apply the jolly joker of AFVs: mud. More mud. And then some more, to cover the mistakes.

Album image #18
Started to add round screw heads by Meng. Strangely relaxing phase?

Album image #19
Almost finished the mud, only addig some dense mix to the wheel arches, and we're done (apart from the wheels, but I leave them out for now [need the tyres for creating pattern onto the diorama surface])

Album info

1/35 civilian vehicles aren't in abundance, and the best for this purpose was the 2-door variant from the Meng set. I wanted to open the doors, and the 4-door seemed too modern, albeit I can't specify the year or the place (somewhere in the former Soviet Union) the diorama takes place. The first few steps were quick, but recently I got stuck, my muse left me it seems... well, here's the story so far.
