Revell ME 262

Album image #1
I really wanted to start an aircraft model, as I have been building armor kits for awhile now, and I couldn't make up my mind, so I just grab this kit without much thought and just started it. I have not build a Revell kit in some time, and thought it would be easy, but I have never build a Revell level 5 kit before, and the first step I need to paint and apply decals before moving on. At that moment I wished I would have started one of my ICM aircraft kits, but one I started moving along, I did get into it and am enjoying the kit now.

This is my first time using decals for the instrument panels and seat belts. I know the seatbelts look a little cheap, but I am okay with it. It will look fine under the canopy.

Okay, I have never used the decals for the instrument panels before. I either buy an Eduard painted instrument panel set, or paint them myself. I wanted to try using the kit decals, and I think they would look really good, if I would of noticed that they slid down on me. I didn't notice it until I took this photo. I need to get me one of those magnifying lights. If the decal would of not fallen down, I think this would of looked great. I look forward to my next aircraft kit. I will do better!

I added 20kg of weight, as I build one of these in 1/48 back in the 1990s and it was tail heavy. This should do the trick.

I got a little lazy, and decided to not paint the guns, as I am going to have it all closed up.

These panels did not fit very well, as you can see.

I got the front panels to smooth out with a lot of sanding and some AK putty.

These are most of the metal colors for painting the engines. I love painting metal colors, and love painting engines. The only other color I added was AK Extreme Stainless steel.

All the parts were primed with Mr. Color 2 gloss black.

So I painted the intake with Vallejo Metal Color white aluminum. Then the main part of the engine is painted with AK Extreme stainless steel, then the dark part is Mr. Metal Color, dark iron buffed, and then Vallejo Metal Color aluminum which fades into Vallejo Metal Color Jet Exhaust. I reall like how these turned out.

Doubtful if the decals sliding down will be too noticeable under the canopy! Looks like you're off to a great start!

Thank you. I also think it will look fine under the canopy, but I still wish I would of caught that it slid down before I sprayed the clear coat over it.

Indeed. I understand. I have had the same thing happen on a car instrument panel and also didn't notice until it was too late! Happens but won't detract from the rest of your work!

You said it Karl. Anytime I point out flaws on my builds to people they're always surprised I even notice them. They're glaring to ourselves but not to anyone else.
