A different build this week
A different build this week - it's the new display cabinet.
First stage - ALWAYS check all the components and hardware are included - I discovered there are only enough shelf supports for 4 shelves out of 7 ?. Just as well I won't be needing those shelves for several years!!!
The feet (purchased separately) required a 15mm trim so the new cabinet will be level with the others.
Nothing a good old Eclipse hacksaw can't rectify.
Base assembled and glass supports attached.
Glass rear and side panels inserted, top panel attached. I was concerned the 3 small screws securing each foot wouldn't hold if we just lifted the cabinet from the floor (those glass panels are HEAVY!!), so we enlisted the help of a neighbor and stood it upright without putting any pressure on the feet.
Upright and in place.
5m of LED strip installed and looking good.
After levelling, the cabinet was secured to the wall - having experienced the big Christchurch (NZ) earthquakes of early 2011 and now living in Italy, you can never be sure when the next big one might arrive!
4 shelves in place.
After fitting the doors it was time to take all the smaller stash items from above the bedroom wardrobes and let them see the light! There is a Hasegawa B-17G in there which was purchased from Hannants via mail order around 1976 when I was still in high school ?
This is my build zone, the window looks out on the harbour - always good for inspiration.

Album info
The new display cabinet arrived this week - it's the same design as my large corner cabinet so now we should have sufficient shelf space for the complete stash build ??
