Spitfire Mk. I Custom
Tamiya has included some nice photo-etch and I'm adding Eduard's pre-printed cockpit dials and seatbelts.
Basic cockpit construction complete
Test-fitted the Eduard panel, seems good.
I really like the photo-etched pedal straps!

Cockpit details
Cockpit complete. Really glad I got a new magnifier before trying to do those seatbelts!
Closed up. Canopy will be open, to make sure as much of the interior details as possible are visible.
The Eduard dials in place.
This front cowling seam line is the only real flaw in an otherwise beautifully-designed kit. This is the second round of putty, after puttying, sanding, priming, sanding, and priming again. Hopefully I can make it disappear. In a Bandai gunpla kit, this cowling would definitely come as an extra piece to go over the front, much as the very front-most part does in this kit.

I never build planes, but I have a four-day weekend and I want to try something very different as a quick project. I want to build Tamiya's new kit, but I don't want to paint a BoB scheme. I don't care about historical accuracy for this one, so I'm going to do something more interesting...
