The very poor Interior with decals

Album image #2

Album image #4
closed the main fuselage of this bird!

Album image #5
the nose fits ok

Album image #6
photo of the pack

Album image #7
the rotor housing had the central hole in the wrong place 🙁 🙁 had to fill the old one with CA and powder, then drill a new one!

Album image #8
job done

Album image #9
and it fits!! 🙂

Album image #10
more bits glued in place

Album image #11
the horrible decal sheet! The kit is very old and the decal sheet got a yellowish colour- lets see how is gonna be aplying the decal (specially the white ones!)

Album image #12
Due to the not proper fitting of the dashboard, I had to come up with a way to fit it to the kit, and for that I had to cut the original foot pedals (I dont know if it is the right name for it) e make new ones!

Album image #13
All glued in place! The pieces to the right and left are scratchbuild stuff to glue behind the panel! The kit was totally bare, so I used photos and the instrutions of the Kitty Hawk kit to come up with some simple pieces, made with Evergreen and some small styrene pieces

Album image #14
All fitted in place- looks a lot better!!

Album image #15

Album image #16
Dashboard panel fitted and glued in place!! Gonna have to make a small cover to the cockpit, a strip of styrenne will suffice!

Album image #17
created the 3 headlights- which are missing in the kit!

Album image #18
made some wires from sprue, but next time I'll use lead wire, easier to work and a lot more maleable!

Album image #19
created the forward "steps", the one molded in the kit are very poor"

Album image #20

Album image #21

Album image #22
scribed the front nose panel line- the "nose" opens in half!

Album image #23
masked the front canopy

Album image #24
all the windows masked! getting closer to start the paintjob!

Album image #25

Album image #26
finally the assembly of the rest of the cabin!

Album image #27
Fitting of the front canopy is not the best, unfortunately! Is either that or the low skill of the scale modeller! 😛 There's a gap that has to be filled with putty or other method! Oh and the decals have to be placed before placing the canopy, ou in alternative, cutted after! I prefered to paint the black colour- not gonna use the decal!

Album image #29
The tail rotor baldes were painted, I didn't use the decals provided. Whenever I can, i prefer to paint!

Album image #30
The original pieces of the landing gear, besides looking weak, also lacks a lot of detail.
Gotta add some pieces of styrene to make it look better and (at least in theory) stronger!!

Album image #31
one is done, starting the second!

Album image #32
Some small details in the port side before starting to paint! They add a lot more to the kit!

Album image #33
small details in the starboard side before starting to paint!

Album image #34
half way work on the wheels- just missing the central hub and hooks- which have to be scratchbuild from lead wire! 🙂

Great work. I'm watching this for my own future build. I have the Cobra upgrades, so we'll see😇

Thank you Carl for the kind words!
This is one tough kit! It's old and it shows! The Cobra upgrades will definitely help you achieve a beter looking model than mine!

Hello Florian, it shows how really a noob I am in scale modelling! Unfortunately the cabin is almost closed and it will dificult to correct the mistake I made, but I'll make my best effort to correct it.
Thank you very much for pointing this out!

Hi Tino, ah sad, but no worries, the next time it will be better. This is the first thing i notice on helicopters. In real life i tried it once at a BO 105 and an EC135, you are not able to crontrol the helicopter in case of the stick touches the seat (at the BO). With the EC you have a bit more space, so theoretical it is possible xD

Album info

Revell 1/48 kit (Matchbox rebox).

Looks ok, but working on it has not been easy peasy!
Cons: the upper rotor housing, lots of mold lines to sand, the central instrumental panel doesn't fit because the fuselage walls need sanding on the inside part, the decal sheet has turned yellow with time...

well I'll end it but is not an easy kit for a beginner(which is what I am! 😛)
