1/16 figure of German tank crew member, Verlinden
This is my second 1/16 figure, so not my usual field. But sometimes you just have to step out of your comfort zone and try new things…….
For starters I made some changes. Box art suggests Pea Dot pattern trousers but I didn't feel comfortable doing that so I opted for white winter ones instead. Same cut so that's OK. Of course painting white has its own challenges. I played around with pre shading and used black spray paint between legs to try to get some variance and hinted shades there. Paint is standard Vallejo MA white. Then it was some experimenting how to dirty it up properly.
Next challenge was proper black paint for jacket. Your bog standard black doesn't work as it's too dark so I mixed a bit of blue and dark brown. I suppose I could have played around some more and try to get better look, more worn and maybe proper lighter shade, but at some point I just said "enough is enough" and figured that more I mess with things the bigger the chance of something going wrong.
Overall I'm quite happy with how it turned out.
