Three of a kind: Dutch Mitchells

Album image #1
The start

The Revell strafer

Very nicely detailed, a pity you don't see much of it when the kit is finished

Album image #4
The first one finished! A lovely kit.

Masking, masking, masking......

Album image #6
The Mitchell is beginning to look like a real plane. A first layer of primer applied and all clear parts have been masked and painted. It needs an awful lot of lead to prevent it from tail-sitting!

Album image #7
This is a picture I found on the internet of the original Mitchell, N5-230, third in the row

Album image #8
The second Mitchell is finished! She just started up her right engine.

Album image #9
The third one under construction. This time with a very good example: the Mitchell in the Marshall museum in Overloon. I added some new windows and changed the shape of the others.

Album image #10
This Mitchell flew with 320 Dutch RAF squadron and was sold to the Netherlands

Album image #11
It flew with the MLD and ended its life outside in the Warmuseum in Overloon

Album image #12
Fortunately its now inside in its first livery.

Album image #13
I'm going to build it as the MLD version, until I find another Italeri kit, to complete my collection

This is one of the reasons why I didn't want to buy an airbrush: lot's of masking to do! But now I know it is really worth while!

The final model, together with the two other Mitchells: project finished!

Interesting! As there isn't much room for nose weight in the glass nose versions of the B-25 I do recomend you to get hold of tungsten putty. It's by far the best stuff you can use for nose weight in a situation like that as it's quite a lot heavier than lead and it's just a matter of kneading it in place and forget about it. You can find it in a well sorted sport fishing store. It's a bit expensive yes but it's worth the cost.

@ Julian:The Matchbox kit is a reissue by Revell, at least, the instructions are from Revell. I bought this kit a long time ago.
@ Urban: I bought the putty a few weeks ago, just in case it might be useful. Never thought I should need it that soon. Thanks for the advice!

You will probably have the most fun with the Hasegawa rebox kit 🙂
