Was hoping someone here could give me some advice on this. I am looking to do some pretty heavy chipping and weathering on the top side of this N1K2-J. I plan on using heavy chipping fluid from AK interactive with an airbrush.

My concern is I have done this in the past and it works really well, but this time I am concerned because I am using Montex masks in order to paint on the markings instead of using Hasegawa's thick decals. I'm worried that the masks themselves will peal off the paint due to the chipping fluid. I'm going to be doing chipping over the entire model to differing degrees, so I will likely be airbrushing the chipping fluid heavily over the top side and wings.

When I was working on a Ki-44 a few months ago, I used the chipping fluid on a few parts of the fuselage, and when I applied tamiya masking tape in order to do some masking, it peeled off the paint laid on top of the chipping fluid incredibly easily, it was like sheets of paint just coming right off. I think I even tried sealing the paint with future and it still peeled it off very easily.

Does anyone know any way to avoid this from happening? Would sealing the paint with a clear coat before doing the paint masks work?
