Plastic OO Gauge Locomotive Models

Album image #1
The British Rail 9F Evening Star, the last steam locomotive built for British Rail in 1960. It was built with preservation in mind and is now on display in the National Railway Museum in York. The 9 is the class number indicating it's power and the F means that it was primarily intended for hauling heavy freight.

Album image #2
The model constructed and in the process of painting. The green has been airbrushed and is BR Locomotive Green. The kit is tricky to build because the moulds are over 50 years old and are worn. this can make fit uncertain, particularly the conrods.

Album image #3
Almost complete. Checking for context and just awaiting application of Decals and a few details.

Album image #4
The completed model as a static display on my OO gauge shelf layout.

Album info

Being primarily an N gauge railway modeller, I came across some of the Dapol plastic kits in the Kitmaster range. Apparently at one time, many years ago, Airfix sold these under their brand. The tooling for these is over 50 years old and so there is a tendency for a fair amount of flash and the drive gear can be tricky to assemble but they are still fun to build.
