Some of the decals and colors might not be to historical context, but not trying to enter into a competition 🙂

Tried something different: Used panel liner on top of the white Tamiya primer to accent the lines. Curious to see how it will come out or if it will make any difference.

Cut out notches in the landing gear doors to add a brake line on each strut/landing gear.

Decal time...also added chipping along wing panel lines (also on the undercarriage) using X-11 Chrome and a sharpened toothpick.

Album image #14
For the leading edges of the wings (forward) used XF-3 Yellow first and felt it would require multiple coats.. so once it dried I just layered X-8 Lemon Yellow.

Album image #15
There was no decal for the rectangular lines on the trailing ends of the wings.. so i used tamiya masking tape (which was a PAIN to mask small lines).. the line width was more than i needed.. but didnt have the energy to redo.

Weathering for the engine smoke, gunpowder marks on the wings, and even sand on the tires.

Album image #17
Not enough detail can be seen for the cockpit with the closed canopy. Also used thread for the antena line.

Album image #18
Masked the extra open canopy that the kit provided to create an open cockpit.

Album image #19
Second canopy masked.. will paint later in the week.

Very nice final result. The smoke looks great under the engines, your figures look even better.

Thank you Jennifer! For the smoke I used the "soot" power in the tamiya products I have in one of my pictures.

I like the "Tamiya mascara" but it seems to get everywhere when I use it. For less mess, try thinning down tamiya grey, black and brown to ridiculous levels, like 20:1 or more in isopropanol then spray it at low pressure, around 12psi. Any higher and you can dissolve away your main paint, ask me how I know 🙁 That way, you can build up convincing exhaust stains with multiple passes and any one pass where your hand wavers isn't a big deal. Some people are so good with an airbrush they can do exhaust in one pass with thicker paint but I'm not one of them.

Anyway, nice "Hamp!"
