Thanks Mr D, although I did not use a mask on the cockpit. That was done gently by free hand with a paint brush and rubbing off the excess with a toothpick.

I think it's the background effect - took a pic on the cardboard for a comparison.
It's intended as much OOB as I can, so yes, the answer is: decals 🙂

There may be problems with KP decals. The decals from the original KP kits were not the best quality. They often cracked and broke into many small pieces when dipped.

Painting and weathering continues on the 1970s Sci-fi art inspired H8-666 Hades Atomic Anti-Ship Torpedo. And this is just the Torpedo, the Harpie Pirate ship will be even bigger. Lots and lots still to do, need to make a release coupling, and fuel, power cables, come up with camo scheme, then more weathering, a bit more physical detail, then finally some data stencils.

If l cut an item of the spru and it has a possibility of mix up, l up a little bit of making tape with part number on it to label it up, l do this as made this mistake before with wheel bay doors !! " Wanded when so much sanding needed!" 😆.
Every build has it's niggle...once it's been on shelf a month...soon forget, good work

Many of the deck crew would have camo trousers. The Catapult Officer, however, (shooter) …is an officer. And they wear khaki on the ship with their flight deck gear. In four cruises on the Ranger and Nimitz, I've never seen a shooter wear anything but khaki. It helps separate them from the enlisted flight deck crew.

I purchased some UV curing clear resin for fixing n repairing clear parts, it's a resin 100% clear glue, sets it seconds once you shine UV light on it. Usually purchase bottle n UV torch as kit.... quite cheap of eBay, AliExpress, Amazon ect.

Thanks for the comments. I do have some UV resin I use, but I decided to ask Eduard for replacements for these, they sent them. I find the UV resin very hard to sand, so I thought it wouldn't be the easiest thing to fix on the canopy.

I don't think so. For 3-star users it is possible the other way around: via the "History" the changes on a kit by user and time are visible.

Thanks Calvin! It's quite nice if you remember it's a short run kit and you prep and test fit parts a lot before gluing anything. Has been a far from perfect first effort by me but I like how it goes together. It's shape is pretty accurate too. The Academy kit is very plug-n-play in comparison

Honestly I'm not sure what sh*t it's made of 😄 But it dissolves anything else and reacts with decal softeners (similarly to thinning).
So, I usually start with bare plastic (unless it's very dark) - otherwise it would mess the primer.
And I gently swipe couple of layers with few seconds of break between them.
Thus the pen only dissolves a bit of previous layer and where it des it becomes dark. So, few gentle swipes and there you go!
