This is an excellent job on this model despite the difficulties. Congrats on a successful build.

Album info

This is an original release that was in my father's stash since about 1975. He gave it to me a few years ago and I finally got it built. It was mostly a nice build, but unfortunately the rubber bonnet straps were loose in the box and had melted some of the parts. I was able to patch them up and get them looking presentable. The worst affected part was the rocker cover which needed a few bits of styrene grafted onto it and a fair bit of Tamiya putty. The decals were slightly yellowed, but I stuck them to a window for a few weeks and they lightened up a bit. They were a bit fragile but went on OK. The 8 on the radiator grill did not want to mould into the indentations, but it is OK. The biggest problem with the construction was the join between the two body halves, on the front where the windscreens sit. I had to glue some more styrene underneath to stop it flexing and cracking the putty. It took quite a few attempts to get it right. The body fits onto the floor pan made it difficult to assemble since I wanted it all painted first. The mudguards have tiny attachment points, which makes them sag a bit due to the weight of the mudguards, especially the front ones. The rear mudguards are a little more stable. The clear plastic "mesh" parts for the headlights and the screen in front of the glass windscreens are not great. Ignition wires were made from some old wire I had lying around, with the spark plug connections made from clear styrene painted with Humbrol brass. Paint was SMS British Racing Green for chassis, bonnet, mudguards and fuel tank. Body was SMS BRG + SMS Schwarzgrun +SMS White. Seats were BRG + White.
