Eduard and Tamiya should take note. Both their decals are rubbish

Eduard really need to take note Alan. Trying to remove the carrier film on a previous build, brought up the decal too. Caused me to scrap the build. Even though Tamiya's are quite thick, at least you can work with them.

True Mark. Have you ever thought about using masks? I'm starting to switch to them where possible

I have, as I've started to paint identification bands, D-day stripes etc. When I become more proficient though. Don't want to make mistakes when shelling out hard earned beer money 🤣

I agree Jim. Can't beat a Shrike, besides the Hurri' and the Jug my next favourite plane. Thanks for the comment mate.

Thank you Mr James and Guy. First time free handing with an airbrush. The build was a bit testy, but hey ho! Where would we be without a few rants, curses, oaths against manufacturers, moulds and decals. At least you can get over it with a few beers.

Lovely finish on this, I've yet to tackle luftwaffe camo. It scares me !! Please don't take this as criticism but when you mark up photos , if you add text to the photo it's easier to understand what you are trying to highlight .. 👍🏻

Hi David. Thanks for the compliment, no problem about the text all pointers welcome. Will rectify, I have the relevant text in the description somewhere. . . . . . . . I hope. The build was frustrating that sometimes I did not make a note. I agree it took me ages to get around to German Camo' all my previous German machines were brush painted. This was my first attempt after practising on plasti-card to get my thinning ratios and air pressure right. Give it a go mate you might surprise yourself.

Album info

Initial construction started. Detail is ver' ver' good, but again fit issues. Upper wings will not mate up, creating a gap on the leading edge. Due to the locating pins, wheel well bulkheads causing misalignment. Solved by filing top of said bulkhead and removing the locating pins. How many clamps do you need? Everyone (well not everyone) raves about Eduard, but fit issues again. Had to clamp and strap after mating the fuselage's otherwise the cockpit interior, bulkhead and engine would of popped the front open. I can already see a step has formed at the rear, bottom and top. . . . . . . . I might take up Lego or origami instead! The areas marked are where I butchered, fettled, skimmed and filled, correcting the pivot on the belly plate. Just a coat of primer to see where I need to further sand. Base coat and camo' down, first attempt at mottling freehand, gloss coat applied. Decaling done copious amounts of Decalfix applied and I hope it's the carrier film that is deadening the colour on the decals. Twenty four hours from now I will attempt to remove the carrier film. Then wash, weathering and post shading. Well. . . . . . . That's it done. The build was a pig, the decal colour does not match the Defence of the Reich Band, it would of been better left transparent. The carrier film has been left on most of the decals and I flatted them as much as possible. I'm quite pleased with the outcome, to put it midly. This is the Mount of Ltn. Norbert Graziade, Red 2. 5. (Sturm) JG 300, Lobnitz, Germany, October 1944.
