Very nice. Convincing chipping and color fading. Like it a lot. I'd like to see it in person. At the club meeting in September maybe?

Terrific Hellcat, could you describe the "chipping fluid" step please?- how do you do it?

Hello model building friends, I was very happy about your positive feedback. Especially because you are all such great model builders yourself. So I was very happy about this recognition.

@ Andy

I sprayed the entire model in a silver tone. Then I diluted the Cipping Fluid with water in a ratio of 1:1 and applied it to the entire model with a brush. (I applied the Chipping Fluid with a brush because even when diluted, it couldn't be sprayed with an airbrush.)

I used the CHIPPING MEDIUM from vallejo (73.214).

Then the preshading and the color were applied with the airbrush. I moistened the areas to be chipped with a wet cotton swab and then scraped off the color with a toothpick. The slightly finer areas along the edges of flaps etc. were scraped off with a fine needle. I only did the rough work with the toothpick. A toothpick (for 1/72 scale models) is too thick for the fine scratches and the chipping quickly seems exaggerated.

The method works better than e.g. Hairspray. In my opinion, a more controlled chipping is possible. The only problem is that after the chipping fluid has been applied, it is no longer possible to mask off with masking tape. If you loosen the masking tape, you would pull the paint down with it. Masking tape can only be used after a layer of clear lacquer.

I hope I was able to answer the question.

Looks so good I had to check the scale. I especially like the underside weathering and blue shift in paint.

The end result is very good. I can only dream of my F6 model becoming like this. Thanks for the good description of working with paints!
