The mold details are good and crisp with no obvious flash.

The Bilek decals allow for a 1944 variant in a winter dressing, which I am busy researching. I think they were based in Poland with Russian markings, and would of been the white paint that wears very easily exposing the green below (like in the project cover picture).

The wheel well is rather bare and the inner plate doesn't sit deep enough. Some scratch work is called for.

I am trying sculpting clay to form some depth. It will take 24 to 48 hours to dry, and I hope to sand it flat and cut out the hole in the plates to form the wheel well relief.

The wheel wells are now much more believable.

So far the self drying clay looks to be working out, so I have used it to create some closure to the wing tip inlets. It easily squeezes between the wing halves, and then poked through with a toothpick.

Some major surgery to the fuselage bottom. I want to pose the crew hatches in open position.

I am happy with this level of detail for the scale.

It is the cockpit entry hatch on the belly.

Some progress on the cockpit floor. It is visible from the top and the bottom, so hopefully the effort is worth it.

And some side wall details. I invented an electrical cupboard to cover the molding of the wing spar ?

I feel this is enough scratch building for the main cockpit. Onto the rear gunners position.

The void ope is a bit complex to form from styrene, so I am trying the self drying clay again.

Album info

I am stepping out a bit on this €8 budget kit with €3 aftermarket decals. I ran away from some scribing practice on a "BigModel" kit, which was too terrible, even for me... This one will do nicely. Also planned is a distressed winter camo scheme and some interior scratch building.
