Another first for me, this time a 1/76 scale tank, the M4 Sherman. 🙂

I trust you'll also attempt your first LCM as well, Guy. I have this kit in my stash, so keen to see what you make of it. Mind if I keep an eye on your progress?

Made a start today by spraying the majority of the parts with Ammo Mig Light Olive Drab base. I thought it would be better to have a lighter olive drab due to the small size of the model. 🙂

@ Jay, if I have the time I'll be adding the LCM to the build, here's hoping. 👍

Wheels are now on. Tyres painted Vallejo Model Air tire black. 🙂

After a lot of re-gluing and lots of expletives, I managed to fit the body of the tank together. 🙂

The Sherman is now together with tracks. Next will be some highlighting, painting some of the tools and then gloss varnish for the decals. 🙂

Completed, a quick build. Again, I have attempted to practice some weathering on this 1/76 scale tank. 🙂

The tank denoted is one from 4 Tp, A Sqn, 3 County of London Yeomanry, 4 Armd Bde in Normandy during late June and early July 1944.

3 CLY landed at Normandy on 7 June 1944 and took part in Operation Epsom (26 Jun-2 Jul) and the Battle for Caen.

3rd/4th CLY was formed on 1 August 1944 at Carpiquet (near Caen) by the amalgamation of the existing Sharpshooters regiments – 3rd County of London Yeomanry (Sharpshooters) and 4th County of London Yeomanry (Sharpshooters).

The combined regiment replaced 3rd CLY in 4th Armoured Brigade, and served with it (under Brigadier – later Field Marshal – Michael Carver) for the remainder of the Second World War. It took part in the Battle of Mont Pincon (30 July – 9 August), The Nederrijn (17 – 27 September), The Rhineland (8 February – 10 March 1945), and The Rhine (23 March – 1 April).
