This one was built for a former armourer of these aircraft.
Some modifications:
-Pilot from PJ Productions (I love these figures)
-Used a cockpit from a scrapped F-5E, which had some raised detail. The original one was plain...added some minor scratchbuilding around the cockpit, such as rearview mirrors, defrosting duct around the canopy, gunsight, and the box thing aft of the canopy.
-Added several lights in clear material around the airframe.
-Added some exhaust ducts with corrugated aluminum foil and some printed images of the afterburner of a GE J-85.
-Blast tubes for the 20mm guns replaced with some hypo needle tubing.
The kit is very good. Grab it if you can find it. I have also built the twin seater and it's equally good.
Painted in Humbrol enamels. Decals by Series Españolas.
PS: Once I finished it and delivered to the owner, he told me that the orange flight suit was out of fashion when the Spanish F-5 got their camouflage. Well he can't really complain, the model was a gift, and the orange flight suit looks cooler 🙂
