I too need to watch it again after such a long time! Nice work I must say! I remembered the mustang you did, but for some reason forgot your charger! That kit has the proper rims?? Thank you again, now to get the charger and a display case big enough for a dio of both!

Bloody brilliant Bob!!!! The exact stainless hubcaps on the Charger, perfecto😉
I still wanna know how a 390 Pony got on the tail of a 440 Mopar....

Munky that's easy, Steve McQueen was driving ! Great job Bob, I like the Steve McQueen image on the window.
As an aside, one of the original Mustang's used in the film was sold at Auction in January 2020 for $3.4 million dollars (£2.6 million sterling), an unbelievable sum for any Mustang.

I read an article that interviewed the director of the chase scenes. The Charger was a 383 and would easily out run the Mustang. He said they put the skinniest tires on the Charger they could find and I STILL would run away from that Mustang.

Yeah I seem to remember that too Bill, the old 390's weren't big on power, the Mopar 383 was strong tho.
If it had been a later 428 in that Stang it wouldn't have been so easy, even for a 440 😉

Where did you get the Charger wheel trims from Bob?
I'd like to build my Revell Charger R/T like that too!

O.k, you had me then you lost me in that article. Being a mechanic for over 25yrs and reading this, most I had to agree with but using a 5 speed trans in the Mustang when all they had were 4 speed Muncies or a Borg Warner at that time? The said the studio had to modify the Mustangs engine , so I'm sure they modified the chargers suspension as well! So in theory this test was not a good way to compare cars!

The only bit of that article I believe is the 10mpg out of a big block Mopar LOL!!! 😄

Very cool pair. I was quite impressed with the movie car chase when I first saw it. I used to drive around San Francisco when I was in my 20's. I recognized some of the streets they ran on.

For those to young to know of one of the best car chases in history (the other being the 1974 "Gone in 60 seconds) here it is in it's glory when chases were real without special affects, enjoy !

Too much information Bozzer!
The whole sequence is brilliant, the music which suddenly stops when the chase proper begins, the cinematography as well as the cars - That Mopar understeer!
Did you know the bit where Steve McQueen reverses was a mistake that he wanted to be left in the film so it was speeded up.
Apart from that the whole chase was in real time.

It's California, San Francisco of all places, so it's not like the law would do anything about it ! Plus it's two of the most bad ass made American Muscle ever made, so it gets a pass !
