Why is that upper front cowling part? In my opinion the upper front cowling should be one part like it is on the older P51. With this option now we have two joint lines to deal instead of none or one. Sorry Tamiya but this is ridiculous.

Isn't that part of the fun though? Or at least, part of modelling in general?

Hi. That is not the question here. Nowadays we have hyer standards and prices. New kits arrive everyday on the market in a pursuit for excelence in all aspects. The kit is excelent but is a step behind taking acount the last ones. One more thing, we shouldnt be afraid of pointing the mishaps on the models like the editors of the model publications. I am tired of watching unfair kit reviews telling the kits are great and they are not. Merry Christmas

My theory is that this kit is going to be the start of other new variants down the line, Mk.V, IX, etc. I'm not a Spitfire expert, but I'd bet that the front of the nose varies on some later Marks. That piece is included on the same sprue as other pieces that would need to be changed, like the propellor, radiator, engine exhaust, and upper wings (for different guns). Also the chin and air intake are on their own separate small sprue, and they give you a door with a crowbar on it (for the Mk.V). If Tamiya can get away with using the same fuselage for later kits, that would save them money, but cost us time.

At least they've got the top cover shape correct in comparison with their previous kit. That I need to use some filler and sandpaper is secondary to me to be honest.

Yes it has. Yes it is the best mk one available. I have it and it's fantastic but it could be so much better couldn't it?

Yes, you would expect nothing less from Mr Tamiya, throw glue in box, give a few shakes and out comes prize winning model. 😉

That would be nice I think. I`m getting old and don`t have to much time left so if I can avoid some filling that would be much apreciated. Keep saying the kit is great don`t miss judge me.

Wouldn't it be lovely if we all had spare time, makes me think like you say most of us here are getting on in age, makes you wonder when you look into your stash do I build a kit that needs a lot of time sanding and filing or do I go an easier option, like a more modern kit.🤔

You have just made me smile.....laugh out loud. Why I keep making revell and Airfix kits instead of the Tamiya Eduard and Hasegawa ones that I have in piles? I just keep doing what I want in the moment I think. And it's so good isn't it ????
