Hunter Cummins Very lucky man
26. March 2014 at 00:13:27
james johnson needed something to offset all of the German heavy metal I've been building!
26. March 2014 at 00:46:52
Fabian D. so some russian really heavy metal is the cure? ;)
26. March 2014 at 00:49:12
james johnson exactly Fabian! I'm finishing a Jagdtiger which makes a King Tiger look small. The Russians have got nothing close to the Jagdtiger. Most of the Russian stuff is built for mobility. When I look at my array of Russian and German builds, it is easy to see who was on the defense.
26. March 2014 at 00:54:49
Fabian D. ...or rather easy to see who understood the terrain the fight was won on... I´m currently reading the memories of Gerneral E. Raus ("Panzer Operations" ;) who was with the 6.PD from literrally Berlin via Leningrad, Stalingrad and Kharkov back to Berlin... You´re getting an fantastical insight in the everydays problems of an comanding tank officer.
In there he´s often telling from the problems German tanks had with the terrain: sampy regions, extremely dusty or narrow roads... and in all ways the early russian amour proved a superior moverability
26. March 2014 at 01:13:51
Hunter Cummins Tnis is won hell of a cure ;)
26. March 2014 at 01:15:38
james johnson Thanks for the steer Fabian, I'm going to see if I can locate that book for free........funds limited at the moment......shouldn't have bought that JSU-152..........I have but one piece of armor remaining in my stash.........might have to start knocking out all of the 1/72 aircraft that I got last summer.
26. March 2014 at 02:12:37
Fabian D. the soft cover isn´t too expensive here, cheaper than a recent dragon figure set ;)
what I find a bit strange is to read memories of a German, written down in German, the translated in English... and now re-taranslated into an English/ German mix, in my head :o
26. March 2014 at 02:24:56
james johnson I need some help with my tactics. Lately, the Germans have really been sticking it too me in war games. Admittedly I haven't been putting a whole lot of thought into my strategy. I managed to take out two MK IV's with a Staghound in the current game but am about to have my remaining two Pershings hammered by two Tiger !'s....
26. March 2014 at 02:49:21
Hunter Cummins A little help at war gamimg.
stay in well hidden areas, make sure you cant get cornered, and flank
22. April 2014 at 04:29:58
james johnson Thanks for the tips.........https://mail.google.com/mail..b2ee3c77b0&zw&atsh=1
I scored something like a marginal victory in this game….the Germans were on the defense in a small town……not allot of room for maneuver. I took out a Flame Throwing Hetzer at about 300 yards with a bazooka and one Tiger I with a flamethrower when he tried to throw me out of a victory flag location I took in some adjacent woods………
My Pershings pushed forward, avoiding combat with the remaining Tiger 1 and set up a defensive position……I lost one Pershing but brewed the Tiger. The remaining Pershing then flanked a Wespe that was pushing in from another direction (with infantry support) to take out the victory location in the woods…………..
Priest's hammered away at the town, but I lost a company of infantry in the frontal assault…….BUT, I had a platoon of infantry in reserve that swept in and carried the day………..
One victory location that was in neither the American nor German hands was all that kept me from total victory…..and I could have gotten that if there would have been one more turn………
Currently I am commanding Second Battalion, 116 Infantry Regiment of the 29 Infantry Division attacking in the Bocage near Martinville. Facing me are elite Fallshirmjager troops, rumored to be with no armored support………
Battle One of Six finds both sides taking heavy loses but I've punched throw his first line of defense………but in the Bocage, another line of defense is just a few hedge rows away…..
22. April 2014 at 05:29:28
Hunter Cummins Sounds like an interesting match your in
your armor might have a hard time helping you against the elite fallshirmjager.
Might you have some S.A.S troops or U.S. Rangers??
